EMIRATES is set to introduce e-boarding passes at four airports in Australia, cutting queue times. The new technology, to be rolled out this month in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, allows passengers to print out their boarding passes at home or work. Passengers who use online check-in, and only have hand luggage, can then bypass check-in counters and proceed straight to their boarding gate. Passengers with luggage can also use the eBPs, in conjunction with Emirates’ ‘Online Check-in’ counters. The streamlined process comes just in time for Emirates’ capacity boost in Australia. From 01 Feb the airline will be introducing A380 services to SYD, as well as additional daily flights from Dubai to both Brisbane and Melbourne. The Australian roll-out follows a successful eBP trial at Emirates’ hub Dubai International Airport.
