BCD Travel founder, John Fentener van Vlissingen, says the business travel company has weathered the global financial crisis better than some of its corporate travel competitors because it is a family-owned, non-listed travel management company.
“As a family company we’ve survived many crises,” said Mr Fentener van Vlissingen.
“No matter what, we’ll arise stronger, more efficient and ready to grow more. This is the time of opportunities. We are just planning to get through this and get out of this stronger. That’s why we are still doing acquisitions,” he said.
The global travel management company has been in operations for 200 years and was founded by Fentener van Vlissingen’s ancestors. The corporate travel agency projects $1 billion in new business in 2009.
