Corporate travellers are no doubt aware of the drama surrounding the possible demolition of the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles. But there was a new twist in the saga when Danish architect, Christian Bay-Jorgensen suggested the sign be turned into a boutique hotel, with the letters reconstructed to become the face of the property and accommodation built into the rear of the letters.
This would undoubtedly deliver a unique LA experience for corporate travellers, not to mention a pretty iconic venue for meetings incentives conferences exhibitions (MICE)!
The sign was officially saved last month after multi-million dollar donations added up to enough money for the Public Trust For Lands group to buy the private land surrounding the sign from a group of Chicago-based investors, who were considering selling it to developers. Stars who donated to the cause include Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.
