A fresh approach to business travel

In-flight internet to benefit corporate travellers

Wi-Fi is about to hit the air waves with several US carriers trialling in-flight internet access.

Having access to the internet, particularly on long haul trips, will be a major boon for business travellers who will be able to browse the internet and receive and send emails and instant messages while high in the sky for the first time.

Currently, corporate travellers can use their laptops while business travelling but can not connect to the internet. Being able to go online means corporate travellers can continue working on an airplane – enabling several more hours of productive work time.

Delta and American Airlines have already begun equipping some planes with the Aircell Gogo internet system and Southwest is currently testing another internet system. US Airways is also doing a deal with Aircell with its service scheduled to go online in early 2010.
