Reducing corporate travel and meetings and incentives costs

BCD Travel has proudly managed the corporate travel and meetings incentives conferences events (MICE) needs of one of Australia’s largest diversified wholesale businesses for several years.

With an annual corporate travel budget of $6 million and over 900 staffers regularly undertaking business travel, one of the key tasks for BCD Travel was to design and implement a comprehensive meetings and incentives management program.

The company conducts at least two major events each year – one of them being their annual conference involving more than 700 independent business owners from across the country. Saving costs and streamlining the event management were key goals.

BCD Travel set up an ‘Implant Office’ at the company’s headquarters to enable its staff to work directly on a daily basis with company managers. It identified a goal of a $50 per seat cost saving given 50% of the budget for the conference was dedicated to corporate travel via air. By creating new relationships with better carriers, BCD Travel was able to achieve an $80 per seat saving.
