Corporate travel event management company, BCD Travel, says meetings incentives conferences events have been more heavily scrutinised in 2009 than any other aspect of business travel, with far greater emphasis on achieving tangible ROI and reducing the costs of meetings and incentives.
One example of this is an increasing trend in companies swapping leisure destinations for business cities for meetings incentives conferences events; and downgrading luxury accommodation to standard business accommodation to save money. (Ironically, most leisure destinations have responded to the GFC by aggressively reducing their prices to attract both leisure travellers and corporate travellers for meetings and incentives.)
According to the report: “There is now an emerging trend in small group and individual incentive travel award and recognition options. A tiered and varied approach to incentive travel award options will be commonplace in corporations in the years ahead.”
